Broken up with over text

I’m literally numb. My boyfriend (now ex) is a dismissive avoidant. He was sleeping over and he literally grabbed his stuff at 5 in the morning and left. I wake up to the sound of my garage door closing and see a text from him saying he is breaking up because he doesn’t think he is where he needs to be emotionally to be in a relationship me with. We have been on and off before, where he would break up with my impulsively and then completely regret it. I thought he’d change since he decided to go to therapy after our 2nd breakup but I guess he hasn’t changed enough. I dont know if he’s going to try to come back again but this is the last straw. If he really loved me he should’ve really at least broken up with me in person. I’m just in shock.
