Ignition troubles, need advice

I have a 94 Buick Roadmaster and recently the car shut off in the middle of the road and the key would just turn in the ignition freely. No accessory mode, or start fuction. I thought it might be a bad ignition but the new one feels the same way. I looked more into it and this cylinder under the dash that I can’t find a part number or even the name of the part to replace it. Any thoughts on what this ignition rod/cylinder/actuator might be called?
