It doesn’t feel like middle class “success” is that difficult to achieve even today, but maybe I’m wrong or people’s expectations are skewed

So right off the bat I want to make clear, that I’m not talking about becoming super rich, earning super high individual incomes, or anything remotely close. But it seems to me that for anyone with a college degree earning between 60-100k is a fairly reasonable thing to do and it’s also fairly reasonable to then marry a person who also makes 60-100k.

Once this is done then things like saving and buying a house become quite doable (outside of certain ultra high cost metro areas). Is this really some kind of shockingly difficult thing to achieve?
