RANT ABOUT TAKING TURNS

ALMOST GOT HIT BY TWO SCOOTERS TODAY – BACK TO BACK – AND I AM LOSING IT! THIS ISN'T A ONE-OFF; THIS HAS BECOME A REGULAR, MIND-NUMBING OCCURRENCE IN BANGALORE. CAN PEOPLE PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, LEARN HOW TO TAKE TURNS PROPERLY?!

Why do people feel the need to cut through incoming traffic to take their turn? What kind of logic is that? The road is wide enough! There’s a proper lane to transition into – USE IT. Stop catching unsuspecting drivers and riders off-guard. It’s not just reckless; it’s a recipe for accidents. One day it’s going to end badly, and for what? To save two seconds?

I’ve lived in Bangalore for 8 years. EIGHT YEARS. I’ve seen all kinds of traffic nightmares, and I’ve adapted to this way of driving, I’ve trained myself to expect stupidity around every corner, especially from people who think it’s okay to turn through oncoming traffic at breakneck speeds. But honestly, no one should have to! This isn’t some high-stakes car game; it’s real life. People have jobs, lives, families – nobody wants to die because someone else thought cutting lanes was convenient.

And another thing – WHY are people taking turns at such insane speeds? Is there some kind of invisible race track? It’s a TURN. Slow down. Assess the road. Follow the damn rules. The road is literally open and wide – there’s no excuse to dart into oncoming lanes just to hop over to the other side faster.

I hope this rant is making sense because I am boiling over here. I even made a diagram to show how absurd this is, but honestly, if people need a diagram to understand that driving into incoming traffic is a bad idea, I’m not sure there’s any hope.

Stop. Just STOP. Before someone gets hurt – or worse. This city’s roads are chaotic enough without people making them worse.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO (reading through) MY RANT.

Have a safe evening everyone ☮️
