Unraveling the hypocrisy of a so called Feminist.
Recently, a couple of hours ago, a woman posted an AMA on this sub, using a M flair, calling her to be a feminist, and taking questions. While it was correct on the mods part to remove that post; many people asked questions, and like them I asked too. My comment on that post, directed towards feminists in general was as follows:
If Feminism is about Gender Equality; what is your take on the following:
1.) Menstrual Leaves
2.) Maternity Leaves
3.) Freebies for Women
4.) Reserved seats/coaches for Women in Buses/Trains
5.) Reserved Seats for women in the Parliament.
Because I for sure know that I don't get such perks being a man!
Also, what is your stance about:
•A specific religion forcing their women to cover their entire body with a veil.
•That same religion not allowing women of their families to attend their place of worship.
• The men of that same religion can have more than one wife simultaneously.
•Fertility rate is highest in that religion, and women literacy one of the lowest.
(BEFORE FEMINISTS START LABELLING ME ALL SORTS OF THINGS, I'LL CLARIFY ONE THING HERE: I'M NOT INSENSITIVE TO THE QUESTIONS I'VE RAISED HERE. I MYSELF SUPPORT MATERNITY LEAVES, EVEN MENSTRUAL LEAVES. THIS WAS JUST TO BRING OUT THE HYPOCRISY OF THESE FEMINISTS.)
While the post got deleted, the lady replied to me in DM. I'm just attaching the screenshot of her replies.
In my opinion (this is what I feel, others are free to disagree; and i don't give a s##t as to what others say);
•These feminists say they want equality. But they're neither not wanting to leave the perks they get for being a woman, or being oppressed since centuries, nor do they atleast want to call it out as wrong.
•They don't even want to confront such points. They don't have any argument to do in response, so just like this girl; they shut out anyone who puts forward such genuine points.
•They want women's rights equal to men's, but their lips are sealed when we ask about sensitive issues of a specific religion (veil, Headscarf, polygamy, not allowing worship at religious places). That also constitues issues relating to feminism isn't it?
In short, these feminists want equal rights as men, but also want special perks of a women, when they're in uncomfortable situations.
I understand menstruation as an event in a women's life is physically challenging, so is pregnancy. What i want to say is that since nature has created two seperate beings with seperate specifications; you cannot try to compete with the other gender in everyway!
They say women's reservation is required in buses and trains. Why? Because they're harrassed in public? For that there are laws! And despite not of the same extent, men too face troubles in everyday life! Everyday, a commuter misses a bus/train because a specific coach in the train is reserved for a specific gender! Even men have to fit into buses and trains like cattle, unintentionally having to smell other people's body odour. Aren't these struggles in itself? A 70 year old grandpa has to travel in a bus/train standing, because some Lavanya from SoDe/SoBo wouldn't give up her seat claiming feminism!
Why is parliament 33% reserved for women? Why do feminists don't say a word about it? They'll talk about oppression and reduced representation. It means that there's disparity in women's rights in the country itself! Metro city women are much more affluent than from remote cities. Before fighting for equal rights with men, why don't you focus on making every women's lives better? Why don't you work with NGOs and provide education, and awareness to such women? Why don't you preach women of a particular religion that nobody can decide how you dress, and veil and Headscarf is oppressive?
If Feminism means gender equality, then it must be equality in truest sense. In every aspect. There cannot be ifs and buts and special circumstances, or explanations. Just plain simple equality. If men travel in buses standing, women should too. If men don't get sick days, women should not get menstrual leaves. If men don't get paternity leave, women shouldn't too. Women say their body is their choice, then if you get pregnant, that is also their choice, and shouldn't be a basis for leave.
P.S.: I'll get a lot of bashing in the comments section, but tbh, i don't care. I know our mods too are weird that they don't allow anything which counteracts feminist opinions, and tbh that is spineless of them. I've deliberately posted this from an alt account because I know this post would put my general acc in jeopardy.
