Advice needed on Design and aesthetics of current sleeve

I have been obsessing over this sleeve I completed about 6 years ago. At certain angles and light the trees are starting to look like a black blob, and I don’t like how the trees don’t blend in with the flag. It’s almost as if there is a definitive line between the two and that bugs me. It is hard to get time with an artist to discuss my concerns and or ways to fix it aesthetically. I think the artist did a great job on each element but wish it all blended a bit better and there was more definition in the trees. I thought about many ways to add something where the trees are but don’t really know how the ink will incorporate. Any feedback or advice on add ons or blending techniques is greatly appreciated. My obsessing over it all started when I saw a picture of myself and from a distance it looked like a blackout piece on the forearm!
